The StrikeUPS™ device is part of the STORM CELL™ network, which uses advanced lightning detection and digital paging technology organized into regional cells. Lightning data is provided to the STORM CELL™ network under a license/distribution agreement with Vaisala, the world leader in design and provision of lightning detection equipment and information systems. As lightning threatens one of our STORM CELLs™, it is detected and activates a warning signal sent to all StrikeUPS™ units within the cell, triggering an audible alarm. The user may override the disconnect sequence or heed the warning at which point, StrikeUPS™ disconnects all electrical connections including power and phone line providing substantial separation and insulation between all contacts.
The STORM CELL™ Network takes advantage of the regional nature of lightning and provides wireless control information to simultaneously protect all subscribers within a region. The STORM CELL™ Network is composed of series of overlapping cells insuring an accurate assessment of every lightning threat. StrikeUPS™ can withstand currents in excess of 35,000 volts, several times the 6,000 volt accepted figure that lightning can deliver to a wall receptacle.
